History Comes Alive

Historic Springfield comes to life all summer long as you enter the Springfield of Mr. Lincoln’s day. You’ll find period re-enactments, musical and theatrical performances, and more as Springfield’s Lincoln historic attractions and downtown district transport you back to the city Lincoln loved. Don’t be surprised if you meet Mr. Lincoln himself enjoying a bite of lunch at a downtown eatery, or you run into Springfield’s own 1860s rock stars – the Lincoln Troubadours. From ghost walks to a visit with General Ulysses S. Grant, immerse yourself in the life and times of Lincoln and the people of Springfield who played such an important role in shaping the man who would be president.

Where: Springfield (Lincoln historic sites/attractions in Springfield and New Salem State Historic Site near Petersburg) and Historic Downtown Springfield
